San Sebastian Festival
Annually in january, the weekend before the martin luther king holiday, it is one of the most popular festivals in the caribbean, full of activities, parades, food and live music. it began as a neighborhood event for saint sebastian; now it's the festival de la calle san sebastian - celebrating the street, rather than the saint. it is pleasant, if insanely crowded early in the afternoon, with artisans and families, but after dark the artisans flee and it's jam packed with drunken teenagers. remarkably crime free, except for rocking cars, and the predictable outcome of 10,000 people drinking for 8 hours in a 6 block narrow street with no facilities.
